      Great looking brakes

I am intrigued by the other comments inthis thread though

I am running the standard Porsche 996 monoblock upgrade and I find that I can easily trigger the ABS if I am am heavy footed. I also find that from high speed, I am easily running on the limit of adhesion of the tyres when breaking in a hard but controlled way...And that is in the dry

Therefore, how much extra benefit will such a huge setup give over say my setup without some seriously soft and HUGH tyres?

I ask this as there is a limit to the width of rubber we can fit under our arches, so we cannot match the footprint of the cars (such as the Merc in this case) that these brakes are designed for.

      Cheers n

It is all a question of balance, the 4 pot 996's are an ideal upgrade to the S2.
If you are experiencing fade with the 996's mono's then it would be better to go to a wider disc (better heat sink) rather than a larger diameter.
If you are approaching the limits of tyre adhesion then it would be down to tyre choice.
Sometimes it is just down to fashion with the bigger calipers.
